Day 10 and feeling more bruised.

I am on day 10 today and feeling loads better than I thought I would - have been having short walks each day (up and down garden, or down to the next street). have folded the odd bit of laundry ( sitting on the sofa when dh bought it over to me.

I sa the Dr yesterday who seemed really pleased and said it was ok for me to do the odd bit of cooking (so as long as no lifting pans of water or standing for long periods of time) , also said I could go out to lunch if I felt ok and for drives in the car (dh driving not me !!) Today though I feel a lot more bruised than I have done the past couple of days - my pain meds have virtually gone to nil now (althought the Dr gave me another script for Voltarel which she said to use twice a day if needed), I have taken one of these today and a couple of paracetomol as well.

Just wondered if it was normal to feel more bruised on some days trhan others - dh tells me that the bruising and swelling are going a lot (I won't look !!!)- has anyone else had this ??

BTW has SAH on May 6th (assume thoses are the right letters for subtotal abdominal)

Thanks

Day 10 and feeling more bruised.

Could be you're overdoing it too soon, your clothes may be irritating your incision causing the swelling & bruising (aka swellybelly), or a combination thereof.

And, yes, the consensus appears that we've all pretty much been through something similar before! There are many posts admitting to such in these forums. There are tons of wonderful advice out there. If you have some time, go through and read up here. You'll be glad you did!!

And just because the DR gives you the release, doesn't necessarily mean you're ready to jump back in with both feet! Take it easy.... You only get one chance to heal properly and a lifetime to live.

Good luck! I'm positive you'll be feeling better again in no time!!

Day 10 and feeling more bruised.

That is exactly how I am feeling Kre67 - not in severe pain but as if I have been kicked several times in the stomach - which in around about way I have - I think the other thing that is probably making it more noticeable was that before the whole area ached - whereas now they are more localised areas- but I am more aware of them (not sure whether that actually explains what I mean).

Hopefully I will have a good night tonight and will feel a bit easier tommorow. As for the bored phase -yep I'm there !!! How much daytime TV can a girl watch ?? 10 days post op and I have a brain that has turned to mush - can only get better !!
