In pain need help?
Hi.
I am new here and I need some help with other women who have this and / or had a hyster?
I have endometrosis, cysts, and dysmenorrhea. Right now the doctor put me on the Lexpro shot for 3 months. It took the pain away but I don't like the side effects and I know it is not a fix, the pain will come back. I am 28 and have two miracle babies (4 miscarragies) and I am not having any more since they took my tubes out and cysts on my ovaries and they thought they "fixed the problem". Little history my mom and grandmother had overian cancer and endometrosis and I am so worried that I will get cancer. Both women had hysters when they were in their early 20's and they were so happy that it took the pain away. I am just so tired of the pain and having tummy problems every month.
Thanks,
Kim

In pain need help?
I am 32. I have 2 miracle babies also. I have BCP to manage my cysts and crazy cycles until my surgery. The side effects of those drive me nuts. I just decided to take it out and be done with it. I am through having kids. I cramp pretty much daily. I was offered a hyst by my doc (military doc - no insurance to deal with) and decided to run with it. I am so tired of all the hassle and ready to be done with it. I'll let you know in October if it was the right choice, but I feel really good about my decision and look forward to no more pain. Your choice for a hyst is a personal one, but you seem like a good candidate to me. Good luck with your decision!

Thank You aloveformusic............I really want one because of the pain, I just got off the phone with my doc and she wants me to have a second shot so that is what I am doing, but after that I told her we need to discuss options, when the pain comes back.

One suggestion for you.. Can you get into an endo specialist? Definitely get a second opinion.
A little history. I had 4 laps, one laparatomy, I did bcp, depo, lupron, and danocrine. I had been in pain from endo since I was 16 so 20 years.
I had other doctors only give me hormones and pain killers as you can see. Thankfully, I did find a doctor that did my laps.
My previous gyn wanted me to go back on bcp and pain pills. I hadn't had surgery in 6 1/2 years. She wouldn't even consider any surgery.
Well, thanks to my husband I got a second opinion. I found an angel doctor. He has been a blessing to me. He offered me a hysterectomy. I just about cried. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I had my hysterectomy and it definitely was the best option for me. Even though I know some ladies that aren't that lucky.
Make sure your doctor can remove all your endo. Any endo that is left behind can continue to cause you problems.
Best wishes.

I had my hyst at the age of 25 for stage IV endo. I do not regret my decison but it also was not a cure. There is no cure at this time.
I did chose to keep my ovaries for the benefit of my overall health, so I have had some cysts since my hyst. You will want to discuss the pros and cons of a BSO for someone your age with your dr and decide what is best for you.
I highly recommend a second opinion and if you are diagnosed with endo, seeing an endometriosis specialist or a dr who is very knowledgeable about endo. This
Have you had a chance to read through the Endometriosis Resources? The more you know about endo, the better able you will be to make the best decision for you.
Take time to search the site and research. We have women on this site who regret their hyst with everything in their being. We have others who feel it is the best thing that ever happened to them. I am in neither group but I did what was right for me, making the decision after speaking to many medical professionals and doing my research.
Many best wishes to you as you decide what is best for you!
