Be patient with your bowels after hysterectomy if having problems, it gets better!!!

I just wanted to let other sisters know that have problems with bowels postop to be patient cuz some women are slower in certain areas to get back to normal! I was starting to worry about all kinds of things cuz i couldnt have a bowel movement without laxatives. I started taking miralax everyday and stool softner 3 times per day when i was like 2 1/2 weeks along and it took about 3 days for the miralax to start working on me but now im back to normal taking nothing but stool softners ( i think im gonna take those awhile) Before that i was taking regular laxatives like ducolax and they all cramp me up so bad i thought i would die. Its not good to take laxatives for along period of time either so i wanted off those things. I never thought id be this excited over having a bowel movement!lol! I also was drinking warm prune juice once per day as well!! If u had constipation probs b4 surgery like me i would just expect it to take a little longer for your bowels to get back to normal!! Good luck!!!😉

I have wondered if I will ever stop taking mirilax.. I'm almost 5 weeks post-op an tried not taking Mirilax I thought I was gonna pass out when I tried going to the bathroom... Ive had IBS for several years an had even able to handle it before this but seems to of gotten worse since surgery... Oh the joys
