I went and saw my doctor today!
Hi all, well just got back from seeing my specialist,i wanted to see her so i could ask her a list of questions i had. Im having my TVH on the 13th of May and my pre-op next thursday. The doctor answered all of my questions and really put my mind at ease, infact she didnt really know why i was so worried. She told me how they are going to prevent blood clots, which was a real help and when i asked her about the amount of time i needed off of work(i work in playgroup)she said only 6 weeks! I think im going to take 10 weeks off though because of the job i do,does anyone else agree with that? she didnt seem to think i needed 10 weeks off! Well im not so scared now thankgod. She made it sound like it wasnt a big thing. Then shes never had it done!! Well just thought id let you all know take care Tracey x x x ps i do not need a bowel prep either!! NO MORE PERIODS AND NO MORE PAIN......YEEEE HAAAA!!!!!

Hi Tracey! I'm glad you got your answers. Does your specialist know what kind of work you do and that it involves wee ones bouncing all over you? You can explain things to kids over and over, but they are just little and will forget. Anyway, glad you got your date .
Take care,

Hi Tracey
Glad you got your answers and are feeling better about it now. I'm not sure about your 10wks question. Will your FMLA cover that long?
Best of luck on your upcoming hyst!!

You are going into this with such a good attitude! I will be 5 weeks post op on Monday and I really don't think I will be ready to go back in 6 weeks because I tire so easily. I'm glad my Dr. talked me into 8 weeks. If you can get the time off take it.

I don't know what playgroup is but it sounds like you work with kids...I think taking off 10 weeks is great and doable.

Hi,
sounds like you have the right positive attitude to this. I was desperate and did not particularly fear the op. The pain however was far worse than I could have imagined (particularly wind) and the first 2 weeks extremely tough going. Then you wake up and think - I fancy a spring clean (dont do it...) and you realise you are on the road to recovery. I am a regional manager of a bank, and I returned to work exactly 4 weeks to the day - in hindsight it was too early, but I had a lot of help from colleagues and family, I did not carry my case/pc etc and was able to work from home as and when it suited me. Everyone seemed to think that the recovery was about 6 months - that may have been years ago, but with the care and treatment you get nowadays I think you can return a lot earlier. The toughest issue I think is what you can and cannot carry - so be careful of lifting when you do return to work, and I was indeed tired, but if you have no children of your own you should be able to find some time for yourself. It is a fantastic thing knowing that you will never have another period - I also love HRT - I no longer have mood swings. Good luck and take things at your own pace. (PS - get charcoal tablets in for the wind - seriously wind is a BIG issue - you can get them from most health stores - they definately helped me, but I did not discover them till the 2nd week) Hugs Lorreine
