Anyone having a TLH soon? Did your doctor tell you 2 weeks recovery? Back to work in two weeks sounds too Soon. Is this that easy?

Personally, I would say 2 weeks for a total hysterectomy is too soon. Some women who retain their cervix have been able to bounce back in 2 weeks but not all.

Drs seomtimes say 2 weeks but underestimate the individuality of each of us. I would try to get 4 to 6 weeks, longer being better, and you can always go back earlier. It is more difficult to get additional time if you need it.

Re: HELP- Time Off Work

If you have a good lapro dr. two weeks should be good. It depends what you work at and how far is the commute. My cousin had a good lapro dr. and she went back in 10 days! (For real).

Re: HELP- Time Off Work

Hey! I had my TLH (via Da Vinci) on 9/7. I'm almost 3 weeks out & I'm not in a position yet where I would feel comfortable going back to work. I do a lot (3-5 miles) of walking & have to do occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. I feel LOTS better in the last week, but still get tired at the drop of a hat.

Invoke FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), and talk to you doctor. Ask for them to write you out for the full 6 weeks & if you feel better sooner, you can ask to go back part time at first. Hope this helps.
