15 days post hysterectomy bleeding

Today I have woke up to a red discharge. Yesterday was brown. Today is bloody red. I may have been doing more than I should and was lifting some laundry today and now I have myself in a tizzy and my husband wants me to go back to the hospital and I don't want to even call them. Anyone else have this happen ??

Re: 15 days post op bleeding

Yeah, lifting laundry at 15 days is likely exceeding your lifting restrictions. Just... don't. You don't want to tear your vaginal cuff over laundry or Doing Too Much Too Soon. Let someone else worry about it

The general guideline on bleeding is that if you're soaking a pad in an hour, that warrants a call to the doc and a trip to the ER. Color may vary throughout your recovery, especially if you do overdo it, or when your stitches start dissolving. See Spotting Vs. Bleeding for more info.

If you didn't receive much guidance from your doctor, check out the article on Hysterectomy Restrictions. Most of us find we hit our limits on what used to be some of these daily activities. Your body will let you know, like it's doing now. This is one time in your life where it's okay to send the Superwoman cape to the dry cleaners - you get one chance to heal properly.

Enjoy the downtime. We get is so rarely!

Thank you thank you thank you so much for the response. I'm loving this site. My bleeding got to bad so I did call the on call dr he said I over did it and ripped some stitches and im lucky I didn't hemorrhage. And to take it easy. This scared me enough to try and sit back more. Thank goodness I didn't do more damage.

Wow, I'm glad you made the phone call. Often when stitches tear it's heavy bleeding, so yes, you are fortunate.

Now rest... Sisters' orders!

He also said I was very lucky. And that it could have been much worse so he scolded me and said again "your husband has his hands full with you" which is what he told me when I was discharged. Thankful for awesome drs who get paged and woke up in the middle of night to respond to people like me who don't listen. It scared me enough that I think I will definitely it'll try harder to do less the next few weeks. It's hard for me when I'm feeling so good to just sit around.

Close call indeed. Always remember: Thou shalt follow your post op orders and restrictions as if they were brought down the mountain on stone tablets.
