No hormones for 1-2 weeks?
Talked to dr.today. Hysterectomy tomorrow. Taking both ovaries. I wanted to have estrogen right away but he said due to bloood clot danger we need to wait 1 to 2 weeks until I am up and around. Any thoughts? I am concerned about hot flashes and emotional attitude. I am 51 so hopefully the ovaries weren't working well anyway!

I had a TAH BSO at age 46, and didn't start hormones until about three months later. Then, I had to go on ERT because I was SOOOOO MISERABLE with surgical menopause. But, for the first month or two I was dealing so much with the surgery problems, I had other issues. In addition, my understanding is that there are estrogen stores in your system that your body can use for a bit.
