What Should I Expect?

I am days away from my surgery and I'm lost as to what I should expect. My doctor said it may be vaginal, or she may use my c section incision OR an abdominal cut. Do I have a choice in which one is done? How soon before I'll be able to get out of the house/interact with my kids?

I had a LAVH and I was pretty out of it for a few days but I was also under anesthesia for 5 hours. I think my first time out of the house was at 1 1/2 weeks post op and my DH took me to the grocery store for about 15 minutes and I was wiped out. Everyone is different. Some ladies here feel good a few days post op and others don't get out for a few weeks. If you have the abdominal surgery you may take a little longer to get "going". As far as the kids, depends on how old they are. It is amazing how they will be very helpful and adjust to your new "lifestyle". We watched silly movies together, played board games etc. (ages 10 & 12) I know you are looking for general advice. My best advice down the line is first to listen to your body and to rest. Next, try not to compare yourself to others that had their surgery the same time as yours. Everybody is different and heal at different rates. Take a look at the "Hystersister Checkpoints".
