Tummy Pillow and Tummy support

Please help.....What do the sisters recommend for a tummy pillow and what did you use to support incision site? Thanks so much

I used my hand in the hospital to support my tummy. With all the other stuff I was attached to at the time, I didn't feel like having one more thing to hold onto when walking down the hall. Wasn't the best set-up, but it worked for me. Gradually I stopped holding myself when I walked and just used this small squishy pillow my daughter has when I felt the urge to cough or sneeze (ugh that is SO horrible at first!!) It's kind of beady on the inside and very light to carry around.

I just started driving again and it's also the pillow I have used in my lap to put the seatbelt over. I didn't necessarily need it, it just made me feel more secure.

I bought the pillow from the site here.......but those squishy pillows would do fine also

I used a small homemade pillow in the car and a regular bed pillow at home. A long body pillow is nice for sleeping.

Yes, long body pillows are GREAT! I have a leg elevator that I've used for just about every position I can stand to get into...and my mother in-law got me a long, tube-shaped pillow at Target that is a little bit softer than the elevator but provides plenty of support.

It all depends on the person, of course, but I definitely have loved having those longer pillows more than I've needed or used the small tummy pillow.

A store had a sale yesterday and I got a cute denim-and-pattern pillow, like a travel size, for $3.99

Near the checkout were actual travel pillows, with no cute covering, for $4.99!

I had to laugh at one I looked at - black crushed velveteen with tassels on each corner, and bright embroidery, including a woman's torso with a bright pink tight dress. The slogan was "I'm still a hot babe...but it comes in flashes."

I was SO close to buying that!

how do you use the long body pillows???? I assume you cant sleep on your side after the TAH ?????

I was given a small pillow when I was in the hospital and it was great for holding my incision getting in and out of bed. When I got home it was great to hold my incision when I had to cough or someone made me laugh.

Before my surgery someone told me to get a body pillow! So I did and it was great because it was hard lying on my side but the pillow supported my abdomen so I could semi sleep on my side. I do not sleep well on my back! Hope this helps!

I couldn't find a pretty little pillow so I bought one in the fabric section of walmart, they have a couple different sizes, ($4) then bought material I liked and made my own cover for it. It came out cheaper than buying an already made pillow and it is much prettier. I use it a lot, especially for my post op appt, kept it under the seat belt and it really helped as we hit the potholes on our little country road.

I haven't been able to sleep on my side since surgery, and I get so tired of being on my back. I have a body pillow and will try to use that to get on my side tonight....thanks for the tip!
