Pain three weeks post hysterectomy

Hello everyone,
I had my tvh on the thirteenth of last month. I was wondering if anyone still experienced pain in the ovary area at this time? I did have an ovarian cyst removed on the left side and this seems to be where the sharp pains are coming from. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do? Also what was anyone else told about watery vaginal discharge post op? The pain is worse than the earlier weeks of recovery.

Re: Pain three weeks post op

So sorry you are hurting! I'm in week 3 and hurting more, also. In my case, I think a big part of it is due to overexertion. I'm taking a little time to keep my feet up and hoping it helps. Maybe you need a little rest, too? Also, please call your doctor and let him or her know what's going on. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi, I had my LSH on May 16th, just a few days behind you. I've been noticing when when pain goes away in one spot, a new one crops up somewhere else. Nothing severe, but a few days this week I went back on Motrin (1/2 dose). I found another site that summarized what's happening - know that you're not alone:
You will experience a lot of twinges and zots as healing takes place. Nerves and other tissues heal at different rates, so these sensations spread out over a couple months.

Healing is not a smooth curve, but rather a series of steps in which one type of scar tissue forms, then is dissolved and replaced by another. Healing starts with a scab, and then gradually moves toward the end result of smooth, strong, elastic scar. In the interim stages, that new tissue is vulnerable to damage.

One of those periods comes at about 12 days, when the earliest scarring resolves into a stronger one and sutures are dissolving and letting go. It is very common to experience a little spotting or extra twinging as your body readjusts things in this first major healing stage.
I don't have any experience with vaginal discharge. I've read that if it's yellow and has an odor to call your doc.

Re: Pain three weeks post op

I did find that my pain got a little worse during week three. In my recovery thread a lot of the ladies said the same thing. I did keep my right ovary (my left was removed many years ago) and I would periodically get some sharp pain there. It was healing too from having the uterus detached from it. And if you had a cyst removed too, it is healing from that as well. I didn't have any watery discharge, just a lot of spotting (which can be normal in an array of colors). I would suggest checking with your doctor to make sure, but likely it's just part of your healing process. Good luck!

Hello. I am sorry to hear that you are in such discomfort. I am having the same issue with my right ovary. My doctor and I decided to keep both my ovaries. During surgery, my doctor found a fluid filled cyst on my right ovary which they drained. Earlier this week I started having pain, I thought it was normal during recovery, but the pain got worse. So yesterday, I decided to call my doctor and they had me come in within two hours. I explained my pain to my doctor and then went for an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech immediately notice that my right ovary was enlarged and two cyst were there. My doctor gave me some meds and will keep an eye on the cyst. You would need to listen to your body, if you do not think it is normal surgery pain, then you may want to call your doctor. Hope all is well,

Re: Pain three weeks post op

Thanks ladies. The pains are in different spots but mostly in the left ovary area. My husband has put me back on tlc only (which I don't mind I love being pampered) which is like bed rest lol but on the couch with a little bell. I love him. But I am now taking it easy because I do believe it may be part of my overexertion as well. But with four kids it's hard to sit still. I've started wearing panty liners per my doctors orders to get a better idea of the color without taking an unnecessary trip to the doctor. I will keep you all updated and thanks again
