incision scar getting redder @ 16wks

Hi ladies

my inscision scar is getting redder at 16 1/2 wks and it seems to be getting wider gone from a thin line to about 1/4 inch width. Its not hurting or hot just changing.

any ideas why?

Carol

I'd definitely go see the doctor about it. (Hey if you are worried about ANYTHING you should see the doctor!) I'm 12 weeks out and mine seems to be getting smaller.

My hospital nurse gave me good advice: look at your scar every day in the mirror. If it starts changing drastically or seepage occurs, see your primary care physician.

Could be nothing - but just the RELIEF you will feel when the doctor says it's nothing makes it worth it.

That's interesting. Does your scar always stay redder or is it sometimes more pink? It seems that when I've been really active my scar gets redder, but in the morning, for instance, it's more "pink". I'm really going to have to watch mine, for it also "looks" wider than I remember. I'm only 5+weeks post-op. Power of suggestion? Na!

Good luck. Let us know if you talk to your doctor and what the answer is.

Carol, I have the same question - although mine feels itchy and sore at times. I thought the thing would be fading away by now -did you check with your doctor yet?

I had a c section 2 1/2 years ago and my scar got bigger and redder. There is some kind of scar condition that I have because my skin is so sensitive instead of getting small and forming a nice little line it is almost a pale purple color and to this day still looks worse than women 6 weeks out from a section. It also became a little more firm and raised, which causes some discomfort if I try to wear tight jeans or if my daughter digs her toes in while I carry her. hope it is something simple in your case. If it is really uncomfortable or worries you I would talk to your doc!
