Pre-op questions

Hi all,

I am zooming towards my pre-op appt. I am supposed to see the doctor first at her office and then go to the hospital for bloodwork and ??????

I have seen the gammet of options depending on the hospital so I am wondering what you guys experienced at the hospital's pre-op.

ECG/EKG?
Anything else I should worry about re: modesty robbing procedures?

Thanks,
LL

Re: Pre-op questions

That is all I had to go for. Bloodwork. Ekg and just talk about the procedure. He also talked about the chances of different things that could happen. Please make sure you have all questions written down. Your nerves will get the best of you and all will be forgotten and than you will be like me worried and wondering. Good luck and hope all goes well. God will be watching and looking over you.

Re: Pre-op questions

They did an HIV, Hepatitis, and pregnancy test on me. I found it annoying as I've only been with my husband, we've been together for 27 years, I haven't even had sex in a few months, I've had the Hepatitis vaccine, and had my period the week before. Apparently this is standard for my doc.

Re: Pre-op questions

My pre-op appt. consisted of blood draw, EKG, chest X-ray and an interview with the anesthesiologist. They gave me instructions for the day of surgery and answered any questions I had. I also had a pre-op with my surgeon's PA and she went over everything and made me feel as comfortable as one could feel when facing surgery of this kind. Make a list of questions and don't be afraid to ask them. Take someone with you because they might help you remember your questions, too.

Re: Pre-op questions

Well, hopefully if I have to have an EKG it will be a female tech. No offense to the men techs out there but I already feel like I am heading towards Close Encounters of the Worst kind.

Oh will they allow someone back with me while I am getting all this done? That would be great....I get crazy head and my hubbie is cool under pressure. I hope they let him come back with me.

Re: Pre-op questions

At my pre-op they let my husband be there through eveything.I was registered for the hospital,bloodwork,X-Ray,EKG,and met with the anesthesologist. The power went off in the building that day as soon as the tech got the needle in my arm!!That was scary, but other than that is was all a piece of cake...
