I can't sleep!!

My surgery is Wednesday and I can't sleep. I take sleeping meds and I went to Walmart to get them today and ended up leaving them in the cart or something- cause they aren't here.
I'm anxious, and there is no way that I can go to sleep without my meds. I've taken them for at least 5 years.
I thought about buying something over the counter, but then I wonder if it's alright to take them before my surgery.

I'm going crazy. Just thought ya'll should know! )

I've been an insomniac for months now and so am here for you! I would discuss your long term use of sleep aids and inability to sleep without them with your doctor. Just shy of surgery is probably not the best time to shake the world up with changes but once you are past this and see how you respond to the procedure then maybe you can bring it up for your future. Maybe you could check with Walmart and see if they were found & turned in? Also, check one more time on your car floor - I've been surprised by finding stuff after searching many times
Call your dr and ask about what you can do. Don't risk postponment or complications by taking anything without asking first

Thank ladies!! I did call Walmart, but the pharmacy was closed and they said that if anyone had found them- they'd be in the pharmacy.

I tried about 2 years ago to quit taking them and ended up in the ER because I was having hallucinations from no sleep at all for 6 days. I tried, lord knows I tried everything I could try and just couldn't sleep. The weird thing is, is that I am totally tired! I will call the Dr. and see if he will allow me to fill it again if the pharmacy doesn't have them. I'm sure he will- it's not like I have ever lost them in the past. Plus, it's not pain meds or anything- just the sleeping med and a water pill.
