Upcoming hysterectomy: Bleeding after surgery

So those of you that have had your surgeries, how much bleeding did you have after your surgery? I have some pads but don't know if I will need more. I am used to very heavy periods having to wear a super plus tampon and then i would wear the always infinity pads too. Boy I tell ya I am looking forward to not having to deal with that no more. But I was just curious at to what the bleeding will be like.

Re: Bleeding after surgery

My surgery was 9 days ago and I have had no bleeding. I had a little pink spotting the day after but none since. I had bled for 3 months straight before the surgery and I am still amazed every time I'm in the bathroom and there is no blood.

Hi there. There it's no set amount or time concerning bleeding after your surgery. Some have minimal bleeding, some have no bleeding, and most probably fit in the middle with a little bleeding and then spotting. My surgery was because of prolapses so I hadn't had bleeding for years. I had a little and spotted for a while. Soon your pads will be no more.

Re: Bleeding after surgery

I can't wait but unfortunately I will still have to buy pads as I have three teenage girls in the house. Ugh, and my 14yr old is already getting heavy periods like i do.

The morning of my surgery,I went in bleeding so badly that I ruined my clothes, put a bathroom out of order, was passing clots the size of my foot. All that,a fibroid the size of a cantaloupe, uterus the size of a basketball, and Adenomyosis. After my TAH, only a slight pink tinge on the TP when I wiped. Maybe two days of that and my bleeding was GONE FOREVER!!! I happily gave my pads to my daughters. I've seen lots of posts on bleeding, and I don't think there's really any way to predict if you will bleed a little,a lot, or hardly at all. I'd have a pack on hand, and if you need more, send someone out, that way they can also grab you some chocolate or ice cream while they're there! Good luck,Sis!!! You're gonna do GREAT!
