Bleeding 3.5 weeks post-op? I'm scared.

I had a total abdominal hyesterectomy June 15. I began bleeding, equivelant to a normal period, last night and it has continued to today...it's enough to wear a pad and I feel very 'heavy' down there and am sore. Is this normal?

Bluefly, Call your doctor. Some spotting is normal and what you are describing does not sound like spotting. Call now. Hugs to you.

Hello Bluefly,

Have you contacted your Dr. ? I had some bleeding and it was because a stitch has popped. It's best to have things looked at by your Dr. You might have just over did it, and popped a stitch like I did, or maybe your stitches are starting to disolve. I've read other posts that you might get some bleeding with that.

I hope you feel better soon, and know that everyone on this site will support you.

No, it's not normal to bleed that much after this surgery. Some bleeding and spotting is normal, but, not straight up period heavy bleeding. That indicates sutures are coming out! Call your DR

This happened to me after a conization, after 2 weeks I was bleeding heavy, went back to the er and ended up back in surgery at 2:00 in the morning to repair the sutures coming out.
