TVH: Counting down the days

I'm scheduled for my TVH on 1/30...I've found so much information on this site, and it has given me so much comfort knowing you guys are here.

I do have one question though...I don't do well with GA and my dr said I can op for a spinal instead. I had an epidural before and loved it, but I'm wondering if anyone here had a spinal? From what I've seen I think everyone has gone with the GA.

My thinking with the spinal is no nausea after, and I'd be numb for several hours after the surgery (am I thinking correctly?) down side is possible severe headache lasting weeks afterwards...true?

I think I'm more stressed about THIS decision than the actual procedure....HELP!

I had GA with all my surgical procedures. I didn't want to be awake for them at all. I also don't do well after surgery due to the GA, but I let the anesthesiologist know, and he gives me anti nausea meds before and after surgery. Although I'm still sick after I'm sure it helps some what. I wish you the best of luck!!!

I had a spinal and was sedated down. No GA for me. They also gave me a pelvic block that lasted 24 hours. My anesthesiologist said they have had great results using a spinal with this surgery. I woke up easier and felt better faster than I did with my other GA surgery.

I'd definitely go GA, they mix in something that keeps me from getting sick afterwards.

I also get sick from GA, and they can do wonders with medications now! As someone else posted, I just tell the anestesiologist, and I haven't had a problem since. Good luck with your procedure!
