How much bleeding is normal post op?

I'm nearly 4 weeks post op from a total hysterectomy, where my cervix was also removed. I've been told that vaginal bleeding can take about six weeks to stop. For me the bleeding had not been too bad, mostly just spotting, and I was starting to feel better then I had in a very long time. However, I had my post op appointment 2 days ago, where the doctor gave me a very painful pelvic exam. She said everything was fine. I also walked and exercised more that day than I had since the surgery. But since then I've been in much more pain then I was and I'm bleeding heaver now than I have been the entire time I've been recovering. I'm not going through several pads a day or anything like that. However, it is much heaver than I've seen. Should I be concerned, or is this normal?

Re: How much bleeding is normal post op?

I had the same procedure as your, the day after you, mine has got a bit heavier too, a mixture of red and brown blood. I hope you find the answer. Best wishes.

Re: How much bleeding is normal post op?

The bleeding could be from the exam and or the increased activity. Maybe try minimizing your activity and see if it majes a difference. If you are soaking a pad an hour, you definitely need to be seen. If it is increasing and not decreasing, give your doctor a call and see what he says.
I hope things get better for you soon.

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you
