Question about fibroids

My fibroids changed in size over the years.... up AND down. When my dd was born in 1988, the doctor remarked that I had "a few" fibroids and that the largest one was about the size of a golf ball.

In 2000 when I had ds the largest fibroid was about the size of a softball, and my uterus was so full of fibroids that the I couldn't even feel kicks on one side (where the biggest fibroids were).

When I had my hyst in 2004, I had "over 30" fibroids (I guess they stopped counting? ) and they ranged in size from .5 cm. to 3.5 cm.

I have read that fibroids tend to shrink down at menopause, so if it's possible to "wait it out", often the symptoms subside after menopause and a hysterectomy may not even be needed.

Question about fibroids

Good Luck rheqnut. I'll be thinking about you on the 7th.
And levy,it's great to hear that your bladder pressure is gone. Did you have any surgery on your bladder? I'm having a bladder tuck,my gyn thinks it's better than a sling. I don't care as long as I don't have to go to the bathroom all the time.

Question about fibroids

For many years, I attributed the pain in my lower back coming around to my pelvic area as being Kidney Stones. It wasn't until November 07 (after switching doctors) that I was diagnosed with several large fibroids, and I found out that the fibroids were causing me this pain, not kidney stones.....I have had quite a few kidney stones in the past, but since I have cut out soda pop and drink lots of water and lemonade, I have not had any for a long time!!!
