Re: Clothes, clothes, clothes
*SIGH* I had to put on the two sizes bigger undies today. Either Aunt Flo is about to visit or something big is growing inside as the normal big momma size stuff isn't fitting anymore and I've only gained one pound this week. If it's Auntie, it's a five pound gain in the morning, not one pound over time.
I also spent a few bucks on some pants in the same size, but not shrunk as much. I'll wear clothes 'til they're thread-bare, and I don't get any control over the coin-op washers' temperatures, so my clothes do go down in size over time. But the undies, they are new.
I think I'm going to rearrange the furniture in my place for the few months post-op. Instead of caring, it's going to be a cave for hiding out with one of those treadmill/clothes-hangar machines in the corner. If this keeps up, I'll have to buy two first class seats, a full row of coach seats, or just go cargo for my business trip next week. There is fat, overweight, obese, severely obese, and then me... hippo. Maybe I can find one of those "beat anorexia" shirts, or maybe just borrow a trucker friend's wide load banner and his back-up beeper.
So not feeling too happy today, I ate a light breakfast. Even the extra extra extra jumbo undies are now too small.
I guess I should focus on the good news... I'm not hurting too badly, nor am I gushing (wow, four straight days of freedom!!!!). It's going to be interesting to see what the blood donor tests show for my next session Friday.

Re: Clothes, clothes, clothes
I had the hip to hip incision & also recommend loose dresses, soft drawstring pants/shorts & maternity pants/tops- nice having the extra room. Old navy or Target have a great selection of inexpensive items. I was comfortable in all of these Until I was able to wear my regular clothes at about 4 weeks. At home I did not even want underwear on for the 1st few weeks, so I kept my clothes cotton & very loose for the 1st 3 weeks. I think I went through more nightgowns than anything else with the sweats until my overies started working again. I had no problems with my incision, but as a sidenote I highly recommend using the blow dryer on a low setting to dry your incision after you shower-it will help it heal faster if the area is dry.

Re: Clothes, clothes, clothes
Thanks for all the great responses ladies. Sounds like I need to stock up on Hanes granny panties, yoga pants and night shirts. I now have my shopping list all ready. This site is wonderful!!!! It's so nice to have somewhere to go and ask all the questions I forgot to ask the doctor.

Re: Clothes, clothes, clothes
I had a vertical incision to remove a very large uterus (fibroids) Although I still have swelly belly, like others in similar situations the swelling isn't as large as the fibroids were, and my old clothes are actually a bit loose now.
That being said... I have been living in men's knit pull-on shorts for the past several years. They are cut more roomy in the front than women's shorts and seem to have a higher waist, meaning my pudgy fibroid tummy had room and the shorts didn't ride up uncomfortably. I bought them at Walmart, where they were priced cheaper than the women's shorts.
I am still wearing them now, using a panty liner along where my incision is. I have a few baggy nightshirts that were rather uncomfortable the first week or so because they would brush against the bare, unprotected incision.
