Hi elizabeth;

I am so sorry to read about all of your pain and problems.

You sure are having a hard time. You are still VERY early in your recovery and you need to rest so you can heal.

Take short walks and drink plenty of water.

If you are having so much pain, I suggest you call your doctor and tell him/her what is going on. If you don't tell them, they assume you are fine!

Be sure to tell him/her that you are experirncing hot flashes and crying spells, There are medicines that can help you with that.

There is no need to suffer like this!

Take one day at a time, it takes time to begin to feel better.

I hope you begin to feel better soon!

Let us know how you are!

's to you!

Re: my intestines hurt, my insides feel like there falling out,and

Hi Elizabethf,
I'm also a 4/19'er, with lots of adhesions and a little bladder repair but with an abdominal keeping overies and cervix.

Being gassy is normal, especially the first week or so. I used lots of GAS-X the first week to help with the gas. It really, really, helped. If you don't have any, get some - it's works great. Also, I am still using colace to soften up the *poopies*, so there is practically no straining. As I heal, I will stop taking them, but for now they are working great.

My pelvic area feels heavy too, not all day but some of the day. Also getting better with time.

Most of the things you are talking about are normal *to me*, and from what I've read on this site, sound pretty normal in general.

The thing that I don't know about is the bruising. Does your doc know about this? I would definitely call if he/she doesn't know.

I don't know about the crying episode, but someone else on the site will be able to tell you more about that. I think the first question is if you are on Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hope things get better fast,
Lisa

Oh darling,

You really should let the doc about the pain and bruising. When they give you something else for pain ask if you can continue the 800mg Advil. some you can and should.

For gas tas Gas X is works wonders, take as directed.

For less painful BM's and healing take Phillips Milk of Magnesium either at bedtime or both AM and PM to make it much more comfortable. It is a stool softener that my doc recommended.

Drink cranberry juice every day to help your bladder maintain the correct acidic level and drink water, water, water.

Eating foods high in fiber are helpful also. Prunes, cereals, whatever high fibver foods you like.

Take it easy on yourself. Support yourself when moving with tummy pillow.

Prayers of less pain,

Billie

in my take home hospital leaflet it says that the intestine will take up the space where the uterus was. maybe that has something to do with the heavier feelings we get. i guess it improves when everything is less sensitive.
God bless Linda

intestines

I am a 4/19er too. Had LAVH took everything. My problem is the cramping of my intestines with the gas. Especially in the morning before a BM. Anytime I get some gas it feels major. My guts cramp so much. I sure do hope this gets better soon. It is the only thing that hasn't really improved. I am thankful tho to be able to go and to pass some gas sometimes.
This is the worst part of the recovery for me.

I am also a 4/19'er (TAH) and feeling the same way - a few days ago I had such pain I almost went to the emergency room. I took laxatives (wrong move I think) and I am finally getting back to ok -with the help of this site (not the doctor) Gas X is wonderful, warm prune juice (I know -Yuch Yuch) and I am also using MOM inbetween - but some vaginal bleeding - slight - but it is only after a bowel movement - so I think to much gas pressure in there. I am trying to keep my head up - they don't tell you all this stuff ahead of time - so you do worry!! I hope you are feeling better soon - I am praying if that helps.

I think it is such a shame that the dr.s don't give us more info. Without this site I would be lost. He said nothing about gas, nothing about intestinal spasms. My guts felt like they had a crimp in them. That part is feeling a bit better. They don't tell you there might be pink on the toilet paper after you po--. They don't call you back when you call the office for the second time to ask about the intestinal pain. They don't tell you why you have it which would be nice to know too. Why does everything have to be such a dang mystery. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't know about this site. they are just wandering around being worried. This is major surgery for crying out loud. Well anyway that is my frustration. Just am glad for all of you out there. Sure we are doing well on the path to recovery. We just want some answers to the little bumps along the way. Geez!!

Re: intestines

gracielln,
Oh, you said it. Morning gas pain before BM is the WORST!!! It is the worst time of day for me. I'm still waiting for the gas to go away, but it has gotten somewhat better since I first got out, but definitely still bugging me a lot. It has caused me the MOST distress also.

Like I said before, GAS-X has helped me a lot.

Best wishes to all of us 4/19'ers, and everyone else.
