4 Days Post Op

Hi - I am 4 days post op (TVH on Wed) and I'm doing pretty well I think. My biggest complaint would have to be the tiredness and the pain that I think is gas but I'm not sure. It started yesterday morning when I woke up and has been pretty persistent. I had my DH go get me some GasX yesterday and I took it twice yesterday and once today. I finally got relief when I broke down and took a percocet (which I had only been using at night) this afternoon.

I was told that I lost quite a bit of blood during surgery so I'm guessing that's behind the tiredness.

All in all I would have to say I'm glad I went ahead with the surgery.

Re: 4 Days Post Op

The gas pains where the most painful part for me. I had no idea they could be that bad. Gas-X did help & you might want to try some warm Chamomile or peppermint tea. Being that tired is very normal. Best wishes to you!

Be strong lady. It gets better everyday! Take small steps, don't over do it. Gas pains suck. I never thought farting would be so heavenly.

Thanks ladies!!! I do feel a lot better today. A lot of the gas has subsided. Now if I could just get my strength back I think I would be back to my old self.

Re: 4 Days Post Op

JoJo - as far as I know no one is giving out medals for being in pain so if you hurt, take something. Goodness knows we have all had our fair share of pain leading up to our "princess crowning" so give yourself a break.

My TAH/BSO was Wed and I find the gas pains are easier when I'm on the tramadol or darvocet. I usually nap for 30-45 mins after taking a pain pill and then feel much better. Might as well nap as there's not much else I can do right now! I make sure I walk a lap around the house everytime I get up for something and am drinking lots of water.

If you're on iron supplements due to blood loss that can cause abdominal discomfort, too.

Good luck with your recovery. I'm sure we'll both being feeling much better very soon!
