TAH ladies.. you might want to add this to your list of things to take to the castle.

It just occurred to me that I was missing something on my list of things to take to the castle. Pain is a good reminder...

When I had my fist C-section I remember how difficult it was to move or shift my body in the car seat when I went home from the castle and going to follow up appointments. Not to mention the chairs and bed at home too. You don't belive how much you use your abdominal muscles for everything!

By the time I went in for my second C-section, I had learned my lesson. On my way home I placed a large garbage can bag ( 32 gal kind ) in the passenger seat and sat on that. It made such a difference!! It was better than eating ice cream with George Clooney in the drivers seat!

I was able to shift my weight with my upper body and keep my stomach muscles happy while I adjusted my rump. It was easier to have someone pull my arm (locking elbow with elbow with the other person), while getting to the edge of the seat/chair/bed. Getting up from a seated position once you are at the edge of the seat is another story though. Then you are forced to use your abdominal muscles.

The garbage bag works particularly well with cloth car seats since there is more friction there between your clothing and the seat. Leather or vinyl seats are not as bad, but it still helps a lot to use the bag.

Hugs!!

Re: TAH ladies.. you might want to add this to your list of things to take to the cas

Good idea! My car trip home was so short and I don't remember any of it so I don't know if I was uncomfortable or not.

The one thing that I didn't see anybody mention to take to the hospital was towels. My hospital had TINY towels and when I got out of the shower the first morning, I was freezing and their towels were pathetic. I wished I had brought a nice big thick towel from home.

Good luck to everyone! My experience was that it really was no big deal.
