How Long?

I am having a TAH and having the left tube and ovary removed. I was just wondering about how long the surgery will actually take. I know all are different but I want a ballpark figure.

How long did your surgery take?

Re: How Long?

Well alot depends on your body size and fat but I was called to the anesthetic room at 11am in the room @ 11.15. And back on to ward at 2-30 pm. How long I was on recovery room I have no idea. But my mum was told start to finish 3 hours. I had TAH with both ovaries left in place

Re: How Long?

I had a tah/bso and it took about 2 1/2 hours. It really can vary a bit depending on each person's condition.

Best wishes.

Re: How Long?

My TAH surgery is this Monday. My Dr. told us, minimally 2 hours (IF all goes well). She PLANS to remove uterus & cervix (leave the ovaries if they are healthy).

Best Wishes, Tammy

Re: How Long?

My TAH/BSO took about one and a half hours - then I was in the recovery room for almost three hours afterward.

Re: How Long?

Like the rest of the other ladies said, it varies on the individual and doctor. I went in at 300 lbs. so they expected it to take quite a while, I was in for 3 hours. Had everything removed including my cervix and he biopsied my lymphs that were close by. I slept the better part of the next two days though.

By the way, if given a choice, I had the melting stitches. The staples are not the best idea anymore.
