Hoping for a hysterectomy date soon, but nerves are getting to me.

I have been diagnosed with a prolapsed bladder and uterus. Originally it was thought that I also had rectocele, but second opinion did not confirm that. Monday and Tuesday I will be undergoing several tests with a colon/Rectal surgeon in order to discover why I have been experiencing bowel incontinence. (Sorry if TMI).It has been terrible trying to work and carry on some kind of normal life while living in Depends and wondering when my next 'accident' will be. When tests are completed and we (hopefully) have answers, the colon surgeon and my GYN can put their heads together and formulate a plan of action so that all repairs can be done with one surgery. I am soooo hoping that I won't have to wait very long for a surgery date. I have been coming here to get informed about what to expect and how to plan. I can't stay away from here. Today I had a particularly rough day at work and my nerves are getting the best of me. I dread all the tests, most of which are pretty humiliating, leaving very little room for self pride or dignity.
Anyway, thanks for letting me get this off my mind. Hoping it will help me sleep, as it has been very difficult to sleep lately since I learned I need the hysterectomy.

Re: Hoping for a date soon, but nerves are getting to me.

I hope they figure something out for you soon! It is bad enough needing a hysterectomy let alone having all of these other issues. I had bowel issues that were diagnosed in my early 20's as irritable bowel syndrome. I always believed that term is a cover for "I really don't know what is wrong with you but here is something with a name". After begging for 3 years for a hysterectomy, I finally got my doctor to do a laparoscopy to see what was going on. He found that I had adhesions that had attached my uterus to my bowel. That surgery was done on Dec 5th. He sent me to a specialist that scheduled my hysterectomy for Jan 24th. I always had a really hard time with my monthlies but I now believe it was the endometrioses the entire time that was causing issues with both. Good luck to you!

Thanks! Glad to hear your story. Hope you have recovered well and are feeling better than ever. I am hoping my tests show something definitive. I have had some concerns about getting a diagnosis that is a 'one name covers it all'.
