Working Through the Emotions

My surgery is coming up in just two and a half more days and I have gone through all of the emotions that I hear other women speaking about. One of the things that I am doing is taking the opportunity to see this as an opportunity to release. I decided rather than view this situation as just a loss, I also want to see it as an opportunity to let go of what is no longer serving me. I am blessing all that it has given and letting go of all that no longer is working.

I want to release all of the 'not so good' things that have happened in my life. This would include the physical memories. I am just asking my body to take any other sadness or illness or disease present in my body and just put it in this organ and send it away with my surgery. This may sound a little funny, but I think that it is helping me to see this as healing rather than as loss.

I have had some wonderful friends who have shared with me about the positive experience they had with a hysterectomy and this has been so encouraging. This last week with the full moon I thought of 'moon cycles' and the idea of facing instant menopause and had a good cry, realizing I was transitioning to a different phase in my life. But I like to think that it builds wisdom.

After reading so many of the wise and beautiful words of so many women here, I am convinced that the difficulties we go through as women do indeed make us stronger and wiser, and yes, more beautiful. Thank you to each of you who share from your heart and are such a great encouragement to so many.

This forum has answered many questions for me, offered much support, and made me feel part of a community. It has helped me to work through the ups and downs on this journey.

Thank you to all.

Re: Working Through the Emotions

Hi meryam!

Best wishes as you are preparing to embark on your journey to good health!

It's been many years since my surgery and I certainly have experienced a multitide of things since that fateful date, but I still feel that having the operation was the best decision considering the circumstances at the time. I played the hand I was dealt and although the my cards weren't the best, they weren't the worst either.

Thanks Carmen!

I'm having a BSO also. I think I am going to try a transdermal gel for the estradiol and a compounded testosterone. Hopefully this will be close to something right here!

I like your expression about the cards you were dealt. Often that's what we have to do, just make the best of the cards we are dealt. You seem to have been doing that with grace Thanks for your supportive words.

You are awesome. Taking this as a chance to grow and repair, etc., brilliant. You are a very aware soul.

Re: Working Through the Emotions

Thank you Meryam for being so encouraging!!! My surgery is unfortunatly not scheduled until May 26th!!! That's a huge battle of the mind. I had my first emotional break down this morning and my sweet, loving husband just let me cry and hugged me. I really appreciate your honesty and wish you all the best! I'll be checking in with you!

Re: Working Through the Emotions

Dear ReliefSeeker and Adrielynn,

Thanks so much for your responses. The night of the full moon I sort of had a melt down also, but just spent some time by myself and imagined a beautiful ceremony dancing around a fire. I let myself cry and realize that yes, I was experiencing a loss, but many beautiful things are coming my way.

Women have so many beautiful gifts to offer. As I have read through the forum I am amazed at the level of compassion and understanding that women are able to offer to complete strangers. But through our common experience of loss we come together and offer amazing support and encouragement.

I'm sure there are many women here who do not consider themselves professional counselors or healers, but the words they offer are filled with empathy and support. It gives me hope for the world!

At the end of January I had to have an artificial disc replacement in my neck. It was a rather sudden onset and I had horrible nerve pain shooting down my arm. I was able to find a wonderful surgeon quickly and had the problem resolved in under two weeks. It was easier to keep focused on solutions when it all happened so quickly!

When you have to wait, the mind has time to just become unruly!! It seems that we can imagine the worse possible stuff. I am learning, slowly and through experience, to keep my mind focused on a positive outcome and to deal with things as they come.

It seems to make a difference.

Blessings to you both and may much healing come your way.

Thanks for being there for me

Your post and others remind me that there is so much that we can learn from each other......

Whether we are waiting for our date or have gone through the surgery, there's always new perspectives to gain!!

Re: Working Through the Emotions

Exactly. By looking at this experience as a learning and growing opportunity it helps me to take away some of the sense of being a victim. Rather than something happening to me, I can look at this as an opportunity to accomplish greater healing for myself.

What I have noticed on this forum, is that everyone helps to bring each person along the path to greater health. By sharing stories and offering encouragement, no one feels that they are all alone in navigating scary waters.
