Re: Starting to get angry/frustrated about DaVinci

Bright red bleeding isn't normal for any type surgery. Some of these bleeding ladies may have other issues that they need to tell their doctor about. The stitch healing and over doing it bleeding women talk about usually is just tiny spotting, not full fledged period type bleeding.Heavy bleeding post Davinci is not the norm at all. Hystersisters is a great place to get research and advise, but please remember many many post op women do great so have no need to post problems here.Keep this in mind as you read here and don't scare yourself! Your going to do great!! Pre op nerves are horrible, I remember. Check out the hints for members sub forum on the pre op forums. You'll find many many threads on how to prepare your home for recovery. If you focus your energy on " getting ready" it may keep your brain focused and lessen your anxiety between now and surgery time!!

Re: Starting to get angry/frustrated about DaVinci

Let me go post al on that. I am so grateful for Divinci! WOW! My doctor swore to me that I was going to be feeling so good that I would need someone around for a week to "make sure I didn't do too much" and she was right.

A normal uterus weighs in around 60 grams. Mine was so filled with fibroids that I named them "The Waltons" when I decided to live with them and backed out of surgery last year. When I FINALLY had DVH on May 15, my uterus had grown to a whopping 963 grams. Removed through my delicate parts.

I do have a pink discharge and it's like a red flag reminder for me to not overdo it cause I feel so amazingly good having evicted The Waltons that I do tend to overdo it.

I also over googled and researched my decison but the final decision was made after speaking to my pre op nurse at the hospital before admittance. She was kind, frank and honest. She filled the role of mother, sister and best friend and let me know what surprised her, what disappointed her, what changed and what didn't. That conversation was my stopping point and from there out I was very at ease and at peace with my decision. I am the kind of woman that MUST know every detail of a trip before I make it and so I overloaded in information. It's a big decision and what stumped me the most was hearing over and over that hysterectomy is the most unnecessary surgery performed every year. I have to say that a uterus weighing 963 grams doesn't fit in that category and neither does 27 days a month of a period on a regular basis.

Trust yourself. Keep in mind that you hear more about the bad stuff than the good stuff cause the people that experience the good stuff have moved on.

I am so looking forward to wearing white jeans anytime I want!

Re: Starting to get angry/frustrated about DaVinci

A very good point has been brought up, so I just wanted to reiterate it. The posts you are most likely reading are from those who are having some complications and I'm sure it does look like everywhere you look, you are reading a negative story, but as other sisters have said, a lot of the women who went their whole recovery without complications have moved on (although not all of us ) and they just don't post. The majority of the posts in Post-op are those who are having issues and feel they need a little extra support. There are success stories out there for all types of hysterectomies, so just have faith and like I said before, what is true for one person...or even 10 people may not be true for you. You just never know.

I'm sure your anger/anxiety is from the pre-op jitters and it is completely understandable!!! Just keep the positive thoughts flowing and have faith and you will be just fine!!!

Re: Starting to get angry/frustrated about DaVinci

I had no post op bleeding after my DaVinci. As has been mentioned everyone is different and you can't be sure how your recovery will proceed. But one thing you won't have is a large abdominal incision. Relax and remember soon you will be on the other side. Good luck.

Well, not exactly. Whether or not the daVinci is the "best" out there is debatable by many. In fact, there are many doctors who disagree with that statement. Additionally, there are many who disagree with "the healing is the same on the inside." It might not be. For any hysterectomy, it can depend on how the surgery is done as to what even needs to heal on the inside. One of the benefits of some of the less invasive surgery options--for all kinds of surgery and not just hysterectomy--is there can be less healing that needs to be done on the inside because of how the surgery was preformed. Additionally, some women will take it easy and will still have a long recovery as their body simply doesn't heal very quickly for one reason or another. We can't guarantee anyone will have a fabulous surgery and/or recovery.

All of the above are reasons why HysterSisters.com does not promote one hysterectomy type over the other, though we recommend all women explore less invasive options whenever possible. It is also why we ask that members not recommend one hysterectomy over the other in our site guidelines. Finally, it reiterates why we partner with your doctor and do not want to take the place of your medical professionals since every woman is unique!

Re: Starting to get angry/frustrated about DaVinci

In my OPINION, the best surgery is the surgery that your doctor feels most confident with. And I am not so sure that it takes 2 weeks to heal for Divinci otherwise, you could go back to housework, sex, running and all the other stuff. My doctor told me yesterday that it could take up to 6 months to fully heal the inside stuff and not to overdo it. Still can't lift more than 10 lbs for another month.
