Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue

Hi fellow HysterSisters, I had a DaVinci Laparasopic (both ovaries removed) on Oct 10th. Pre surgery I had a very high estrogen level. The Dr wants to give it a few weeks for the level to come down and then recheck it. BUT, the anxiety symptons are really kicking in. I feel like I am in a fog most of the day, and just want to curl up on the couch with my eyes closed and tune everything out. I am having to take Xanax to function. I also have less energy than I did a few days post-op. I'm assuming that large hormone changes are causing my distress, but I'm actually starting to feel panicky about feeling so panicky!!! Any suggestions for relief. Dr will consider HRT after checking my estrogen levels are coming down to normal - estrogen excess not dominance. Thanks for any feedback

Re: Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue

I don't have any estrogen problems that I know of so not sure how that affects you. I can tell you I was put on the patch before I left the hospital. About 7 days after surgery I started with the depression I'm sure it was hormone related because my mind knew the things I was crying about was no big deal but I couldn't control my mood. It has evened out and doing well with depression now. I think the fatigue and foggy feeling is normal. Most women seem to experience that for some time after surgery. I have not had anxiety but due to thyroid problems I normally have it on a daily basis. But my endo raised my thyroid meds prior to surgery because he said having a hysterectomy can affect thyroid. You may just be suffering from the week 3-4 set back. I know I felt like I was going backwards but was assured this is normal. Then it seems one day I woke up and felt great!! I still have a lot of healing to do but I feel mentally I am up for the challenge. Just try to be patient and know that one day you too will wake up and feel great!!!
