Home and Not As Bad As I Thought It Would Be

Hi There one and all. I am home, had my tvh on tuesday the 22nd. Went in at 6am had surgery at 7:30am and was back in my room by 10:30am talking and laughing with the dr and hubby. By 3:30pm was asking to go home but of course they wouldn't let me. They did a general and of course the morphine pump for pain but only used it until about 11pm that night. DH came to my room around 6am the next morning with a small thermos of coffee fixed up just the way I like and I was home in my own bed by 11am Wed. the 23rd. The paid is not to bad in fact feel pretty good today. Kept the ovaries as they were still in pretty good shape. No incesion just lower abdomonenial pain when my bladder gets full or if I sit up to much or walked around to long (yesterday) Hubby gone to work today and I have been up doing my bookkeeping on the computer, calling into work and trying to help them over the phone with my customers. DR said I go back in 4 weeks but by week 2 if I have not taken pain med for 8 hours and feel I can slam on the brake I can start driving so it looks like I will be able to go back to work by 3/8 (first of week3) at least for part of the day. THank god as this am I was all crying as I am already sick of sitting on my butt at home, Have read 2 books. etc and am very very bored! I really think Iwas a lucky one and am going to come through this flying. DR put me on the vilivaldte (spelling?) dot to try as of next week. Hope it helps cause today I feel like I am having major hot flashes! Really appreciate the help this site was before and now am going to go read up on the post op items just to make sure I do not over do. Thanks again for all the support.

Excellent!

Hi, Susan! home!

Good for you. What a wonderful report about your experience!

Please take care of yourself. It takes a little practice to know what over doing is for you. It was my biggest struggle. I've learned to quit while I still feel good.

May you have a smooth recovery, new !!!

Mine has been like yours....

Susan,

I was so glad to read your post! You and I have had very similar experiences...

I had my TVH on Wednesday the 23rd at 7:30am and was home the next evening. My Dr. was able to leave the ovaries. Really no complications at all. Although, I have fallen victim to the Swelly Belly and look 4 months pregnant!! Can't wait for that to go away, as I am 33 years old and I just know someone is going to ask me when I am due. Not that I will be upset, but I have been on the other end of that question and remember how much I wanted to crawl under a rock after asking it and finding out they weren't even pregnant!

Anyway, I keep anticipating some of the post-op symptoms I have read about, but have been very fortunate to not experience any of them to this point. I found this site the nite I got home from the hospital and it has been so helpful - what a fantastic help to women all over the world!

I hope to read more posts from you on your journey to health - I'll keep you up to date too! Thanks!!
