Hardness under vertical incision normal?
I'm 12 days post-op (TAH, kept ovaries) with vertical incision from pubic bone to belly button. Still have steri-strips over incision, (had staples removed one week after surgery), and incision seems to be healing well so far, but I'm curious if the hardness under the incision line is just normal scar tissue forming? Can you do anything to soften it up over time? (Have the normal itchiness and sense of raw nerve endings over the incision, too.)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Hardness under vertical incision normal?
the hardness in your inscicion site is normal. it will probably stay that way for a year or longer. i have had 3 c-sections with a vertical cut. i remember with the last one that one day i realized it was no longer raised and hard---not sure when it actually happened, though. (my baby will be 2 in about 5 weeks.)

Hardness under vertical incision normal?
My vertical incision is a bit hard as well. My Dr. told me that it could last for quite some time (9-12 months +/-) and that it was normal.

Thanks
Thanks for sharing your experiences kevieb and Here I Go.
There are so many things the doctors and other medical staff don't tell you, and you don't get much chance to ask! So I am really glad to have the support from you and others here!
