Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Dawn, another thing about walking, you don't actually have to go anywhere. The day I got home from a disk operation, I walked back and forth on our front walk. It's about 50 feet from driveway to front door, and I just walked slowly back and forth. Then I started walking faster, but I did not want to go too far from my house until I felt secure walking.
Good luck!

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Hi BEST friends
I'm alive but have cought a cold or something? I feel lousy and have lost my voice again. UGH! I have not gotten in the pool yet..... UGH!!! And the weather went from 102F down to low 70's. Too cold for my joints. I don't do "cold" very well.
Major expenses loom due to pool pump going wacky so will probably be getting a new one, dog's teeth are really bad.....and a host of other "problems". And Baby has not yet seen the light of day. DH's back still prevents him from finishing the breaks on the Bug so it sits blocking the garage door. UGHHHHH!!!
I'm not in the best frame of mind as you can see. I'm ready to run away from home cause I need some down time all by myself.
BTW - welcome back Dawn!!

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Hi Everyone
Welcome back Dawn!
Yesterday was the last day Curves was open. It has been a rough last couple of weeks but we made it through and it is done. Now I need to find an exercise routine for me. Thank you Nancy and Desk for your walking ideas. I used to walk and have a beautiful place to do it. It is now time to get this in order, painting, cleaning out DSs room to get it ready for oldest DS to move into so his room can be made into baby/sewing room, painting that room plus living room and bathroom and we need floor covering for kitchen/dinette area and carpet for living room. soooo we will be busy until Colton arrives. LOL
Melissa, I hope you get better soon and things are fixed, it is not good when you are under the weather.
It is so good to see all of you. I am hoping to get back to the daily thread maybe next week. Right now I need to go and get things done, the "Curves" girls are meeting for lunch today. See you soon.

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Hi All~
Sorry I've MIA the past few days. I've been avoiding posting because I have been doing so horribly, I didn't want to tell you guys! I am letting some personal issues sway my desire to take care of myself. I missed my 1st weigh-in as I just did not want to go there having had a gain the very frist week!(how embarassing!) so I just avoided going. I KNOW that isn't helpful and would have been wiser to go and get the support and motivation that they offer, but it was easier to just avoid it, so I did! Now I know that is the wrong attitude to be having but those of you that remember me probably remember that this has been a pattern for me for a longggg time! I get super psyched at first and it fizzles pretty quickly. I just cannot seem to make it stick in my head that change is a good thing!
I am really gonna try to make better choices for myself. I think the answer or key to things for me is not trying to do it all perfect and giving up when I don't and on the flip side I can be too forgiving of myself as well and not make the needed changes. Guess I am just too moody! (hope none of you agree with that )
Sorry for the downer!
Goal for today is to "Not Go Crazy!" with anything!
Take Care, Dawn

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Good Morning Everyone!!
(((Dawn))) Don't beat yourself up over yesterday. Today is a new day. Make today the first day of the change to a healthier you. Make it an Outstanding day.
I've got lots to do this weekend, but it should be fun. Today is just basic mowing and such. But tomorrow I'm joining hopefully about 2000 other Zumba participants to try for a Guiness World Record for the largest number of zumba dancers in one location. We have to do this at a park here, and we have to keep moving for the entire hour. I've done this in class, in air conditioning, but not outside in the sunshine. But it should be a blast.
Sunday we are dog sitting for the neighbors lab. She's a sweetie, but sort of like a toddler. You have to watch her all the time. Otherwise you might lose something that you want.
Then we have to be ready to leave in the early morning on Wednesday for Massachusetts. Staying with DD and SiL and having a family reunion for DH's side of the family. Lots of fun and laughter.
The next weekend DD is coming here to visit for a week. She has vacation to use and her DH has started a new job, so he doesn't have any yet. She and I will get in some serious girl time. We haven't done that for awhile. I'm really looking forward to that.
Off to get my day going.

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Hey Dawn, you are fine, we all do that, and more often than we (I) care to admit. The thing that really worked for me was my support group was online, and we met at 6:30 am once a week for fifteen weeks. No one saw my face, no one knew my progress except the group leader/instructor, who gave us neat interactive lectures about reading food labels, making better choices, right-sizing portions, and incorporating more exercise into the day. It was a challenge, but a personal challenge, and it seemed so much easier than going OUT to meet a group of people face to face and discussing personal issues. Not that I know anything about WW, but anyway the impersonal personal interaction really worked for me, like having a personal trainer who totally focused on me when I needed it. In private.
The other thing that has been invaluable, and seems to be necessary for me to continue losing, and to maintain my loss, is the journaling. What a pain to remember to write it down on paper or in a book, but it's fun to log it interactively into applications like MyFitnessPal.com and SparkPeople.com where the apps take into account the exercise and work with me individually and based upon my goals and food intake and caloric expenditure. Basically, it's just plain fun and interesting. Eventually the logging becomes a personal challenge, and the boundaries the apps show me are just guidelines. One of them tells me if I ate like that every day then I would weigh _____ in five weeks. That was a stunner, and helped me cut down, and when I ate well, it was very encouraging. I cannot say enough for these apps, please do check them out!!
I'm off to see the visiting family, big lunch planned, dinner unknown. Interesting family dynamics as I think I mentioned in the daily thread.

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Dawn...I have to agree with Desk on the journaling. I could never, never, never do it on paper in a book. But I find the using myfitnesspal to be fun, informative and most days inspiring. My DD is on also using so we encourage each other. If you get going there and want to find friends you know, you can friend me when you are ready. (Let me know and I'll send you my user name there). Hang in there and don't get discouraged.

Yeah me too - what Nancy said!! It is really fun, and what is good for me is that it's a personal - private - personal challenge. It has worked, and the time seems to go quickly because it's fun, a good place to hang out. Try it! See you there!

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Good Saturday Morning,
It is starting out to be a beautfiul day.
I need to get busy and get some cards in the mail and I am baking cakes today. My DDads Birthday is today and Father-n-l's is tomorrow and of course Fathers Day! My Dad is 93 and DH's dad is 83. Both were living on their own and now have sons living with them and they don't like it! They like their independence better.
Curves officially closed on Wednesday so very hard and sad. the owners DH had his surgery yesterday and has cancer in his lung. They removed part of his lung and he willl have chemo. I feel so bad for them and I know she made the right decision for her in closing.
Dawn, i hear you about starting out great and then fizling, I do it too. I am going to check out the sites Desk talked about today. Now that I am going to be granma I don't want to be a fat one. LOL
Desk, thank you so much for the all of the encouragement you give! It is so much appreciated.
Nancy, have fun with your DD. Thank you too, your walking is so inspirational.
I have to come with my own exercise plan now that I don't have Curves. Bike riding will be a part of it and I plan on walking too. But, there needs to be other things as well.
HELLO to all my BEST Friends
See you soon.

Re: JUNE B.E.S.T. Chatter thread
Thanks for welcoming me back everyone! You are all so awesome!
I briefly checked out the two sites that Desk and Nancy suggested and will check them out a little more today.
I need to get to the store TODAY, it's pretty slim pickins at my house right now!
Movement today will be cleaning my house and maybe a short walk.
Have a really great OP day!
Take Care, Dawn
