stretching at 5 weeks PO

Woke up this morning and without thinking I stretched. You know, hands towards the head board and feet to the foot board. Felt aching in my abdominal all day. Hope i didnt damage or tear anything. When is it ok to stretch? Does anyone know? Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: stretching at 5 weeks PO

A five weeks you're probably okay, although if the "aching" turns into actual *pain* you may want to give your doc a call. You might also want to try introducing stretches on a more gradual, controlled basis rather than going for the full-body experience all at once. *grin* I started introducing *gentle* stretches, mostly for my legs and arms, during my third week and then gradually worked towards more abdominal involvement over the next few weeks.

I did the same thing!! I kinda forgot all about it for a second when I woke up! Another day of rest and some ibuprofen and everything was ok !)

Thanks for the feed back. I will be more careful and start doing some"gentle" stretching...

Re: stretching at 5 weeks PO

I felt such a powerful urge to stretch even in earlier weeks, and had to fight to resist... but at 5-6 weeks I probably stretched also!

I agree that at about 5 weeks you probably won't have done any harm, even if you feel some discomfort... but major discomfort or pain might be an alarm bell.
