Fatigue- I am so tired I could cry!

I was warned that I would tire quickly and I also read it here. .....But still I kept optimistic. I was already so tired before that I couldn't imagine it getting any worse,
W-R-O-N-G.

I am now getting headaches that even 600mg of IB won't take away. I called my Drs office yesterday morning and they called me back today stating my Dr is out on vacation yet AGAIN.. she was on vacation when I called the week before my surgery..I have no luck with this office.
Anyway they can't help me..they will forward my message to teh DR when she comes in on Monday. Just GREAT!

So I decided to call my PCP and left a message telling them my issues..hopefully they will call in something to help me sleep.

I am miserable right now, irritable and moody-

Sorry that you are having such a rough time. I am 5wks and have had a horrible week with fatigue! As far as your headaches I was told that Motrin can give you rebound headaches. Is there no other dr. covering for your dr. that could prescribe something different. You might want to try just some tylenol just for something different. Good luck I hope you feel better!! I would call back and see if someone is on call or try you family doc and explain that your other dr is on vacation.

HUGS!

Yeah I am so bad with pain relievers -tylenol is like taking candy- doesn't make a dent in my pain... I did call my primary DR and I'm waiting on a call back from him.
I do take our son in tomorrow to see him so I'll hound him then if I don't hear anything today.

I was thinking that you might be getting rebound headaches as well. Switching to Tylenol may help that.

Try a hot or cold pack wherever you need it. I had 2 in the freezer and 2 out to heat up for anything that started to bother me - head, back, incision.
If you are allowed to have a bath, try a warm bath just before bed.

The whole exhaustion component to this recovery isn't necessarily related to lack of sleep but to the body needing so much energy to heal. I found resting in the afternoon HUGELY beneficial. I didn't always sleep, but I laid down with my feet slightly elevated and NO visitors and NO phone. Most days at 3 weeks, it was about 2 hrs I did this every afternoon. I was soooo irritable if I missed "my rest". By a month, it was only 45 min. By 6 wks I was able to skip days without any problems.

THere is so much healing that has to take place, we need to give our bodies time to do it!
Take care - and REST!

I would agree rebound headaches too IF I were still taking the IB regularly...but I stopped taking the prescribed IB over a week ago- I finally took a dose yesterday because my head was pounding. My eyes hurt so bad from how tired I am. And we must have cross posted- Tylenol does NOTING for me, nothing at all hasn't worked on me in years and yeah I do still try it every now and again to make sure and just as I suspect- nothing!..
Ah well I will be seeing or talking to my PCP today or tomorrow regardless.

As far as Hyst goes my healing is going fabulous I think. I am up and have been since week one doing all kinds of stuff. I would tire easily but that I expected...now that I am week 3 I am scared that I will not be able to take care of my children after the 6 weeks when they are not in daycare any longer.

As for HRT, yes and no. They put me on Vivelle 0.1 but I don't like the way it makes me feel at all...all of my symptoms seem heightened when I put a new patch on ...so today I decided to go with out for a week or so and see what happens. I forgot to change it last week ( I went 2 days over) and I tell ya those 2 days were great!!

you might do well with bioidentical hormones. my neighbor had a tah/bso and felt really bad after with the hormones she was prescribed. she went to a dr for the bioidenticals and she really looks and feels fantastic.

Tracy,
I also have had more headaches than usual since surgery, from annoying to migraine level. Tylenol and/or Motrin don't do anything for me. For me, Excedrin will work for "lesser level" ones, but I have Imitrex (Rx) for the biggies! I have also found that when I have a 'bigger' headache - my blood pressure is up too. [Needless to say, Imitrex has become my new best friend!!]

It takes some time for all the drugs to get out of your system, so that can contribute. Plus stress from all we've been through adds to it, for me.

As for the fatigue - I have found (even at 8 weeks) I still need to at least lay down and put my feet up for a while. Fortunately, I work at home so this isn't a major issue. But if I don't do it, especially at the point you are, I could barely make it until bed time. And if I kept pushing it, I'd be ready to cry AND have a headache!
I am also 'mildly' anemic so back on Rx iron, so it doesn't become chronic again. (it is interesting - my gyn's office calls it "mildly" anemic; but my PCP, of many years - has his radar going off! Of course, my PCP & I went thru several years of chronicly low iron, until I hit peri-menopause!)

Hope you find time to rest everyday, and a break from the headaches. I hope your PCP is able to give you something that helps.
