Reality check...how much time will I need help?

Hello Ladies,

I am having a VH and prolapse repairs done on March 8th. My Hubby has scheduled the whole week off to help me. I know everyone is different, but, what have your experiences for recovery been like with a VH? Also, will I need more help after a week? I have 13 stairs in my home and am planning to spend the first week or days on the main floor. ANyone made it up the stairs before the week is out?

Many members have done stairs but the key is you do them infrequently. Ask your Dr. some say 1x a day for a certain number of weeks.

As for needing help....that's an 'it depends' sort of question. If you freeze meals, don't put things that you critically need on high shelves and don't have complications you can definitely be okay after the 1st week. It's all about the preparation aspect.

I had a daVinci robotically assisted laproscopic hysterectomy so more incisions than yours will be. First week I definitely wanted someone around but after that as long as I took things easy I was okay, DH or a friend brought me lunch for that 2nd week and we went from there.

Others should be along to give you some ideas about recovery.
