I feel so liberated!!!!!! =D

Went thru my drawers and did what I have been wanting to do for sooo long!! I threw away all my ugly, stained granny/period panties

I cannot explain how great that feels to be done with them!! I saw my personal trainer yesterday and he commented how great I'm looking LOL!! Anyway we've set up a date for later this month to start a modified easing back into program. I've already started back on working my arms and stretching (man that feels so good to do!!). I tell ya I am having more energy these days, today I've been doing laundry like crazy (within reason of course, still have kids carrying the baskets) but none the less...I want everything done so that when I start back to work on Monday I'll feel good about that too.

Hope all my other sisters are having a great start to the weekend also, just remember to take it easy as you only have one chance to do it right the first time!! =)

I'm looking forward to the day I get to go through my drawers too! I'm just waiting to see if I end up being one of those who gets mini periods (I still have my cervix).

Re: I feel so liberated!!!!!! =D

That is fantastic! I'm just waiting for my swelly belly to go down - as my period panties are also the ones that are not close to my incision and are not affected by my daily expansion...

I am also 'donating' all of my unused sanitary necessities to my school. I teach 8th graders and they ALWAYS need a spare. The ones in the nurse's office are thick and gross where mine are nice and thin (hello? they were for MY comfort!), so they will be perfect. Plus, I have a bunch from my hysterectomy shower - the hostess made a pad & tampon "cake"!

And how nice that I have no use for them - I am currently missing what would have been my SECOND period since my hyster!

I went thru some of mine this morning, threw a few away till I am done recovering. Then I told my husband we are going shopping for all new panties, when I am feeling up to it. I can't wait to buy what I like and is pretty without thinking they will get ruined. What a great feeling!

The hysterectomy shower is totally the way to go. I teach in a building full of young teachers, with all the lifetime milestones that go with that. There were SIX showers in the last school year alone. So we were talking about the whole "Sex in the City" episode where Carrie is complaining about how much money she has spent on her friends various showers, but there have been none for her. With me getting my - much desired, mind you - hysterectomy, I was in a similar position. Since I'd fought so hard for my surgery and it was such a good thing, we had a shower. Played games, people brought gifts, we drank red wine (no reason not to have booze). It was a blast.

It's really empowering to celebrate the hysterectomy, I believe.

Very cool! I just went to a steak house and ate a huge dinner with my family beforehand. But how cool to celebrate with your friends!

A hysterectomy shower.. very cool.

I'm planning to celebrate July 13th every year as my rebirthday..

Also, I've been thinking that on the 13th of each month I'm going to do something just for myself... be indulgent. :-)
