daVinci hysterectomy ladies....

So I have had spotting off and on since week 2 of recovery. I'll be 4 weeks this Friday. Typically it's just when I wipe I notice it but this morning it was in my panties (just a spot nothing heavy)...

I know some spotting is normal as our bodies heal, but just curious what others are experiencing. Does it mean I've done too much? Does it just mean things are healing?

I know everyone says not to worry unless I'm soaking a pad in a hour - which I'm not but I'm truly curious what other ladies are experiencing in this unpleasant subject.

Re: di vinci ladies....

I've had the same as you, and I am at 6 weeks now. I seem to have about a quarter size amount of blood most days. There might be a day or so when I have nothing, but the usual is a scant amount. I have a pink stripe when I wipe too (sorry if TMI!) even if nothing on a pantyliner. I haven't stopped wearing those liners.............and I won't for a bit longer!

I have my 6 week follow up apt today, so I will see what he says. I don't think it is from doing too much - I think it is actually just the healing process.

THANK YOU it is so refreshing to hear from someone else that has the same type of things going on. I would LOVE for you to report back to me after your appointment today. I am home all day today (I work from home on Tuesdays) so I'm taking it easy . Look forward to hearing back from ya!

Re: di vinci ladies....

I started spotting last tues. I had assumed mine was associated with the catheter finally being removed at 2 weeks post op. I'm still spotting today though not enough to soak a pad but it's red. I know I had a Uti and I think I may need a different antibiotic for it. I have a follow up Friday unless I feel I need seen before then. I have noticed if I do nothing it slows down. When I wear jeans and drive to much that's when it increases.

I can't wear jeans yet. LOL My belly is just too tender - I'm still happy in yoga pants and stretchy skirts for work! LOL

Re: daVinci hysterectomy ladies....

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I'm about 5 weeks post op from DaVinci total hysterectomy and have had no bleeding up until a few days ago. It is very scant (and only when I wipe myself and even then only sometimes). I don't feel like I've overexerted myself at all. Certainly will be mentioning it though to my doctor at 6 week post op appointment.

Re: daVinci hysterectomy ladies....

My doctor visit was interesting! Basically, his take on the bleeding in my situation is that my stitches aren't healing as quickly as others - which is why there is a spot on the vaginal cuff that is still bleeding a little bit. I had another internal today after having one at my 2 week post op. He said bleeding can be expected up to 8 weeks out, but that most people stop earlier - but my case is slightly different. I have been pretty sick - I got the flu during week 3 and weeks 4 and 5 I had a sinus infection, bronchitis and ear infections.............So he thinks I might have been unable to heal the way I should have since my body was trying to get better from the infections. My actual vaginal cuff and surgical incisions look ok. Just the stitches aren't fully healed. Bottom line for me - Home for another 2.5 weeks! I go back to dr on the 21st to see about going back to school after that. Hope this helps!

Re: daVinci hysterectomy ladies....

I have had stopping/ bleeding since 4 weeks before my procedure, it hasn't slowed or stopped yet, yet they said the cuff is closed, where is it coming from? Not happy. I went through menopause 7 years ago. Now I have been wearing pads for 3 months.
