Did Anyone Have an Eye problem after your Hysterectomy?
We were all under a general anesthesia for our hysterectomies, and I am not sure if anyone knew that they tape your eyes shut so they don't open as we are under.
I wondered if anyone had what happened to me and the length of recovery from it.
That night, after the surgery, I noticed my skin around my eye very sore and felt like something was in it. I asked for the nurse to look and she sent for drops. The next day, it felt worse than better and ask for another day, that went no where, insurance won't pay for it.
Surgery was Oct 24th, on the 28th, I was admitted to my local hospital for an eye that was completely shut and tearing. Make a long story short, I had Cellulitis of the eyelid, also know of periobital cellultis, is an infection of the tissues around the eye.
Did anyone else have this happen to them?
After three days in the hospital, I am finally home with steroids, very strong antibiotics for healing.

Sorry to hear of your problems! They should have had anesthesia see you since they might have been able to help out. I believe most of the time eyes are taped shut but anything can happen when you wake up from surgery like accidently poking yourself in the eye, an oxygen mask scraping your face or even a rough blanket can scratch you. Perhaps a tape allergy. The only eye issue I had was blurry vision for a few weeks.
