Bleeding after hysterectomy - will I need to pack pads?

Do you need to pack any pads-I feel like this is a silly question.

Re: Bleeding

You probably won't have to. The hospital will more than likely have plenty. I've never been a fan of the big bulky pads through hospital uses though, so I will more than likely be bringing my own.

Re: Bleeding

I woke up in surgical panties with one of the giant pads on. I left the hospital the same day and kept on the surgical panties, but used a regular pad that night. I could have used a panty liner, but I didn't want to take the chance. I haven't used a regular pad since. Panty liners were enough for the rest of recovery.

Didn't use pads. Panty liner was ok for 1st week. After that didn't need anything. Many days I didn't wear undies because they hurt my stomach. DvH kept ovaries

Re: Bleeding after hysterectomy - will I need to pack pads?

I didn't need pads at all because I didn't bleed at all after surgery. I didn't even spot the pad they put on after surgery. So don't invest in a bunch. I have two packs and no one in our house who needs them.

Surgical mesh undies day of surgery. Then just spotted, only when wiped.
Nothing since.
Best wishes.

Re: Bleeding after hysterectomy - will I need to pack pads?

After cleaning the cabinets in my bathroom, I discovered that I have many boxes of tampons and pads that I haven't even opened yet. I'm gonna keep a few boxes of the pads to have on stand by just in case I need them during recovery.but the rest of the tampons and pads , I'll be giving them to my younger sisters. I think I'll humor them a bit and wrap them up in some wrapping paper. I can't wait to see the expressions on their faces when they open them.

I was actually on my third day of my period and was bleeding heavy. I wore a pad and was paranoid when I was going to have my surgery. The nurse said not to worry that they would remove before surgery. It was funny because after the surgery I gave not even spotted and still have pads in my purse. Good luck the hospital will take good care of you!
