Big OWIE pains prior to bm and during ...

Hi;

I had a TAH on Jan 24 (11 days) and I am still having sharp pains (in my bowels) just prior to bm and then during.

It's all in my bowels ... have they not found their "way" yet??

Anyone else?

I had a lavh/bso 9 days ago and having same issue. It's hard to sit sometimes, it feels like the poop is just inside rectum (sorry if TMI). I eat 6 prunes a day, drink lots water and juice, benifiber twise a day, and walk around house, I took 2 laxitives yesterday. What can I do to get relief? Should I get my dh to get me an enama?

try dried apricots! and lots of water too.

When I feel like I have to have a bm ... my head says "oh no... $hit ..."

I have experienced the sharp pains too. I had my cervix removed 2 weeks ago. (After a LSH 2 years ago) My guess is that it is gas and its working its way through. My dr told me that everything inside is still pretty swollen and there is just not as much room. She was pretty sure that what I was feeling was gas and not to worry. Make sure you increase your water. And eat smaller more frequent meals. And try to relax when on the potty. It doesn't help to tense up. And if it doesn't subside, of corse call your dr. I am sure other sisters will be here to give more helpful advise too! Continue to pamper the princess! Take care and good luck!

I haven't had any painfull bowel movements. I take 3 stool softeners and 1000 mg of magnesium.

I feel like glass is moving through my bowels. It's not painful at the exit, just prior.

My TLH was 1/21/11 and I had the same problem. I dreaded going to the bathroom. I called my Doctor and he recommended Milk of Magnesia. I took it for about 3 nights. I am now back to normal. That consitpation was the worse part of my recovery.

Painful before for me too. Forgot how constipated I get when traveling anyways. I was just getting normal when I left but back to pain before and infrequency. Needless to say everything is swollen.

I am 4 weeks post op from LAVH (cervix too) and I still have pain just before. Very painful, but as soon as I get to the bathroom and sit down, the pain goes away. No pain when going. I have read this can last a few months, and I'm starting to get used to it - at least I know when if I just get to a bathroom it will go away. And I have become pretty regular, going every morning about 30 minutes after eating. So can I be certain to be near a bathroom.

Two words, ladies! Olive oil.....DeeTee62 knows now......1tbsp. daily is all you need to keep soft and regular!
