TVH 3 months ago, feeling a need for hormones. Anyone taking hormones?

I'm 40 years old, kept ovaries. Is anyone else taking hormones? If so, what kind? Did you have to have testing to find out which hormones you were lacking in?
Feeling weepy, and emotional for two weeks out of the month.

Re: TVH 3 months ago, feeling a need for hormones. Anyone taking hormones?

I am taking Vivelle Dot which is a bio-identical and has worked great for me. I did not get tested as my physican didn't think it was necessary at this point since I was only 4 weeks out when I started them. If I encounter problems down the road he will check my hormone levels. Depression, weepy and emotional are very common following a hysterectomy. Talk to your Dr and see what he advises. Some women need an antidepressant in addition too hormone or alone. Good luck.

Re: TVH 3 months ago, feeling a need for hormones. Anyone taking hormones?

My Dr put me on an estrogen patch, estrodal or something like that. She put the patch on my while in recovery after my surgery. The only problem I have had is skin irritation but if I put the patch in a different place when I change it then I have no problems. I haven't had night sweats or anything (which I did before surgery).

I do not like to take meds unless absolutely necessary but on this one I have never looked back It works great!

I am 28 years old.I had my hysterectomy 5 months ago and was able to keep both ovaries because they "looked" healthy.I'm going to see my doctor today about HRT.I have been having hot flashes, horrible night sweats, extremely dry skin, vaginal dryness and very irritable for the past 2 months.Hopefully my doctor does something,as all of this is driving me nuts!
