High Blood Preasure and Hyst.

I was just diagnosed with High Blood Preasure 2 months ago - and I have never been in the hospital while having this condition...

I have had 3 surgeries before - but how will this change things for me in there? Are the nurses going to come in EVERY 30 mins. to check BP?

What else would not be the same?

Most likely they will want to monitor you closely to be sure there are no problems.Better to be safe than sorry. Once your pressure normalizes they won't check as often. At first after this surgery you might appreciate them stopping by more often to help you out with little things like water, adjust a pillow after they take the pressure any way rather than having to hit the nurse button for those things anyway. I sure did.

I had high bp going in for my hyster too...the dr. told me to take one of my 'scripts and they would watch things for me. the nurses (or aids) came in every 4 hrs but with a little help from the morphine, I could 'almost' sleep right through them. ask them how your bp been before you leave, mine was always low in the hospital. when I got out and started taking the meds again, I was always dizzy...long story short (kinda) I don't have high bp anymore.

I also have hypertension and am on medication. When I had my hyst I was told to take my med in the morning. After that BP was monitored in the hospital. I dont think they did it any more than usual. Actually most of the meds seem to lower BP, so it was not an issue at all when I was there.

Yes, I also have HBP and normally take 3 different meds. I was given only 1 of them in the hospital, my BP was taken regularly and found to be normal. I think the pain meds keep it lower and I KNOW the morphine pump does. Mine was low, actually, while on the pain pump! You'll be fine.
