Aches And Pains???

Dear Immabluefish:

Please know you are not alone in your aches and pains. I had my TAH 2 days before you. As time goes on I have had alot of thigh, back and even foot/ankle pain (aching especially at night) I notice this increases along with added physical activity during the day. I think in my case it is muscular in nature and often I attribute this to overdoing it as well as just part of the recovery process. The way my MD explained it to me was that there are alot of nerves where we had surgery. In a TAH surgery, internal organs are moved around/shifted, etc; along with the process of removing the uterus, fibroids and adhesions it is not unusual to have this type of pain at this point in recovery. Of course everyone is different and it is best to check w/your MD. I have learned the hard way that you need to pace yourself, listen to your body and take one day at time. If I do too much and start to feel uncomfortable, I now stop, instead of pushing the envelope. If you do a search in this forum you will find alot of similar posts including my trials and tribulations with this issue. When I do have this type of pain, I have found Ibuprofen helpful along with rest and my trusty heating pad. Hope this was of some help.

Take Care

Judith
