some dx's can't be made until after surgery
adeno is one of the ones where the uterus usually ends up in the pathology lab before a definitive dx is made. Sometimes, if they biopsy the right spot during a lap, adeno can be identified prior to removal of the ute. MRI is also a good dx tool. Rarely can docs distinguish adeno from fibroid via ultrasound.
Also, been known to happen, but ovarian cysts can crop up with any ovulation cycle. I had multiple hemmorhagic cysts in my path report and that was a big surprise considering I had been on depo provera birth control to shut down ovulation for nine month before surgery. Oh well!
Glad you found a doc to have trust in. Been there, fired a doc before and glad I was strong enough to act in my best interests.

???? about diagnosis
My doc suspected adenomyosis (in addition to already confirmed mutiple fibroids)---adenomyosis was confirmed by pathology following my surgery. I also had small cysts on each ovary that had not been diagnosed before surgery.
It's so important going into surgery having confidence and a good relationship with your doc---glad you found one that you like!
Best wishes to you...

Not much os for sure
I had surgery for suspected ovarian cancer. We knew there were tumoors there but only biopsies showed them to be benign. Adenomyosis was also suspected, and an MRI made that suspicion strong, although I, of course, could have told them that from my symptoms! Pathology showed psotive for adeno.
So no real surprises, but big time relief that there was no cancer. My doctor said later that she really believed I had cancer, even after she saw my innards.
