A lot of things going on with my body.

Hello everyone,

It has been almost 4 months since I had my hysterectomy and it seems that my body is changing in ways I would have never thought of. For one, my back has been in so much pain that I want to the emergency room and they found nothing wrong with me. I have had a small stroke in 2014 and in 2015 was informed that I have a blood disorder that has caused me to have blood clots in my left kidney. As a result I have been. Prescribed blood thinners and high blood pressure medication. I have been having flank pain on my right side that radiates from my back the right side of my abdomen. I thought it had to do with my right kidney but in 5th ER they said that I had nothing and sent me home with pain meds which I refuse to take. This pain does not let me sit for to long and sleep less at night . Does any one have any advice on why I get this pain in my back and how to manage it ?

Re: A lot of things going on with my body.

Hi, Gladys.

I'm really sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Have you considered chiropractics or physical therapy for your back pain? One or the other or both may help.

Are you more sedentary since your surgery? Sitting really aggravates back problems. Have you gained weight since your surgery? More weight means more strain on your back.

Good nutrition, exercise, mobility and working on strengthening those core muscles may really help with your back pain!

Good luck!

Try meditation. In many states chiropractors and massage therapists are not allowed to touch you until you get a clearance from your doctor. Personall I think they can help with blood flow and healing. You may be able to do some massages yourself.

Re: A lot of things going on with my body.

What have you been doing for exercise since your hysterectomy? One of the things that can cause back pain is lack of support by the abdominal muscles. If these were weakened by surgery and then you didn't do anything to get them back in shape, that's what may be causing your back pain.

Re: possible pain in right kidney, I'd suggest going back to see the doc who diagnosed the blood disorder and the clots in your left kidney.

Hey Mindy,
Thank you for responding. I will check with my insurance company to see if they cover those methods for pain.

Thank you for your response. I have been trying to take walks and doing stretches in the morning. I have even tried to walk around the mall but the next day my whole body hurts . I have made an appointment to see my doctor again This week.

Re: A lot of things going on with my body.

When I didn't take pain meds for my chronic pain, I used heat on my back. However, the pain could be radiating from your tummy. So try either one to see what eases the pain. Ice is good also but only use it for 10 mins at a time.

If allowed by your doctor, a hot bath with Epson salts helps too.
