Lupron treatment for 7cm fibroid prior to vaginal hysterectomy

I would like to know if anyone else has had success with Lupron shrinking fibroids? To make it possible for a easier vaginal hysterectomy?

Hi i didnt take Lupron b4 my surgery i had a tvh on the 31st of Aug my uterus weight in at 14 lbs once removed....i was a wake for the first 2 1/2 hours of it but they had to knock me out for the last 3 of it

I did (3) months of lupron shots to shrink my fibroids enough for a less invasive hyst (LSH). My fibroids measured15 cm total and after the lupron shots...they measured 9.1 cm total...and my Dr. was able to do a LSH. I felt lupron was a success for me.

Thank you ladies for sharing, I am scheduled to have a tvh Oct 28. And am pretty nervous about it. How was your recovery? And Mary how long did it take the Lupron to leave your system? Also did either of you women keep your ovaries? I am hoping to keep mine. Thanks, Cllc

Hi Clle,

In my case...I felt like the Lupron left my system pretty fast.

My recovery went very well. In post-op, I took two weeks off from work...and then I returned to work with my Dr's okay.

I did keep both my ovaries with my hyst. I had my hyst seven years ago...when I was 46...and my ovaries are still working good. No hot flashes yet.
