3 weeks post hysterectomy: feeling blah - infection, insomnia headaches and exhausted

Just over 3 weeks post op. Now have an infection in my mouth and throat from the tubes. The doctor wants to do another ultrasound to make sure everything is healing ok as I keep filling up with fluid if I sit to long stand to long bend try to sleep on my side etc. IMy getting lots of headaches having trouble sleeping and feel so exhausted. I walked for 10 minutes the other day and was so sore and so exhausted. Anyone else had any issues like this?

Re: feeling blah

I didn't fill up with fluid as bad as you did, but I had lots of fatigue. My doc said that was because my body was using all its energy to heal, and I had just been through a huge trauma after all. I also had headaches and insomnia. Unfortunately they just come with hysterectomy recovery for many of us. They are likely hormonal issues whether or not you kept your ovaries. This recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Give yourself plenty of time to heal. Very likely all these thing will improved in the coming weeks.

The surgeon was supposed to keep my ovaries but on my discharge forms they said they were removed! Been trying to get answers from the hospital with no luck. When I get my ultrasound this week my gp is going to check. Hopefully they weren't removed I'm 33 and can't have hrt
