Hello! I had my uterine biopsy this morning (ugh), and was scheduled for TVH on July 23rd. I had endometrial ablation last August, but sadly, it wasn't a cure for my bleeding.

I'm going back and forth between being nervous and being excited and ready to get this done. My main worries, of course, focus on how I'll feel afterwards. I guess I'll have to take it as it comes.

My 2nd "main worry" is...what will sex be like afterwards? I'm 39, and just "rediscovered" sex less than 2 years ago after getting off of the pill. That, combined with most likely having hit my sexual prime, has kept DH busy, lol!

For those of you who were in similar situations, did you still have high libido afterwards? And was it lasting?
Thank you!!

Since I haven't had my hyst yet...I can only tell you what I've read.....and I've read a ton. Most of the women I have spoken/emailed/read posts said that Sex was just as great, and some said better. For me...just the thought that I won't have anymore problems with that "area" and just feeling better in general should make things better. Each person is different...
Check older posts, I believe someone asked about this just about a week ago and many of the post-hyst sisters replied.

They will be able to give you more "hands on" (excuse the pun) knowledge of how everything is going for them.

Good Luck and Blessings,
TANK

Hi Cindi...

I had an LAVH on May 9 after years of dealing with and multiple surgeries for endo. I was absolutely petrified before surgery mainly because I was wondering what I would be like and how I would feel afterward. I can now say 9 weeks later that it was one of the best decisions that I ever made. I'm dealing with HRT and having a few issues with that but there is no more bleeding, the pain is gone and I never have to worry about making sure I'm stocked up on advil and tampax and kotex.

As for sex, I have only recently tried that in the past couple of weeks and I can tell you honestly....it has been wonderful. There is some soreness naturally and a little spotting but nothing that would discourage me.

I can say that as for my experience, my hysterectomy has been one of the best things that I have done in my life.

Cindi
My recovery went wonderful. Be prepared to have someone to help you out for a couple of days. I also had the LAVH and was surprised at how well I felt after the first couple of days. As for sex post-hyst....for me its MUCH better. I had severe endo and sex could be very uncomfortable before. I hope that your surgery goes great and you have a speedy recovery!
