Re: Fatigue
I am 4 weeks post-op and I have been feeling the same way the past 2 days. That's all I want to do is sleep. I don't even have the enegy to do little things around the house. On Monday I went to see my primary care doctor and found out I had a bacterial infection in my chest so he put me on azithromycin. On Tuesday I went to see my ob/gyn and while I was there I told him I was always tired and he pretty much said I'm over doing it. and while I was there he put me on Premarin. My poor body has been given so many different antibiotics and pain meds this past month it's probably telling me enough is enough.

Re: Fatigue
Hey ladies~ I'm only 9 days post op and yeah, I'm fatigued but I was zapped constantly PRE-surgery so I really feel no different in that dept. I had my ovaries removed, am not on HRT and have felt nothing in that avenue either, my doc suggested my hormones were just that off pre-op, though he never could check my levels because my insurance wouldn't cover it at "my age" he has paperwork submitted to check them post op, how sad is that.. they'll pay for him to yank out my ovaries but not for pre-op hormone levels.
Anyway, think back to BEFORE surgery, were you fatigued alot then?

Re: Fatigue
Thanks Ladies.. I don't feel so alone anymore... I go back to work tomorrow.. I have it all planned out.. as soon as I get home (hubby is taking care of dinner for a couple of weeks).. dinner, shower, jammies and bed in that order. I appreciate all of your sharing.. I realize that we all heal in our own time... but just to know that we can share our experiences with each other helps alot.

Re: Fatigue
Thank you ladies for sharing the fatigue problem - and the advice. I too am more tired now than I was immediately after my LAVH. But I also went back to work at a reduced work schedule 3 weeks postop, 20 hrs, then 30 hrs and last week 40 hrs. I knew this would prolong my recovery, but didn't have 3 weeks of vacation and sick leave since taking off to take care of elderly parents and being sick myself over CHristmas. I still have sutures at the postop check last week, so sex isn't an issue yet. Husband doesn't "get" my lack of energy.
After watching me, afraid I inspired another lady at work (10 years older) to put off her ankle surgery until she retires. Pain is better, but it is the fatigue which is overwhelming. I try to go to bed earlier and to take breaks. I took a mid-day nap yesterday. I will start on vitamins as suggested and see if that helps. I will also try green tea.

Re: Fatigue
Hi Eve25,
I'm 5 weeks and 5 days (yes, I'm counting!) post-op and have the same issue! The first 2 weeks after surgery I felt like a "New Woman" just like all my friends had said I would. Then all of a sudden I feel as if I've no energy. I made the mistake of sweeping and mopping my house and boy did I pay for it ... took me 4 days to recover! I felt fine as I was cleaning but that night I felt like I'd been hit by a train! Don't over do it. I've started walking and taking vitamins and feel a little better. Sex ... I've been wanting to have sex since 1 week post-op. I think knowing I can't has made me want it more. My doctor said at 4 weeks we could have "external sex", that has been good. Scared and really excited about "real sex" again!
