Hematoma

I'm 3 weeks post op now and started having more blood and really red, so I called the Doctor and she said it sounds like I have a Hematoma that it was like fluffy scar tissue and the doctor can just remove it. Now I have an appointment to go in on the 19th to get it removed
Has anyone else had this? they said it was common.
all this bleeding makes me nervious about scar tissue in the future I just wish it would stop already.
Thanks for any info sisters

Hematoma

Hi Seabrezz,

I am sorry you have this going on now. I have a hematoma but it is on the left side of my abdomen and I am not bleeding or spotting. I am on blood thinners as I also have Deep Vein Thrombosis.

I understand it is common and if you do a hystersisters search for hematoma you will find many threads with lots of info.

Hugs,
Tracy

Hematoma

Hi seabrezz:

I am sorry that you are going through this too! I had a hematoma that was diagnosed a week after my hysterectomy that was on my vaginal cuff. I was 2 weeks post op when i had to go back in for a second surgery to have it drained. Like Freezy & a few others here I have not had an easy go if it & have now been off from work for 6 weeks. I just had an outpatient surgery on Wednesday to have a stent placed in my ureter due to a fistula that formed post op causing urine to leak from my vagina..yuck!

Prior to the discovery of my hematoma I was not bleeding or spotting at all. did your doctor give you any instructions on what to do until you go in on the 19th? That seems so far away to me to wait it out considering that you are passing bright red blood.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing & feeling!

Be well!

Hey Michelle,

How you doing love? My hematoma was seen on a CT scan at the same time they diagnosed my deep vein thrombosis aka blood clot. I had one done with dye and one without. I also had numerous x-rays and a test called an IVP which stands for Intravenous Pylogram. Oh and I think it could be seen on my ultrasounds too. Sorry it seems like a blurr as I was in the first time for 9 days and had tests every day. I was not really having any symptoms of either but still in horrible pain at the three week mark when I went ( I mean my hubby dragged me to) emerg.

I'm sure Kara will be by to let you know about hers soon.

Hugs,
Tracy

Hematoma

Hey Michelle:

Yes indeed I am right behins Tracy with the hematoma tips! I was one week post op when I started having horrible abdominal pain, I went to the ER & had a CT done that showed the hematoma then a couple of days later had an ultrasound that showed that it was growing in size on my vaginal cuff. That is when I was admitted to the hospital, I had 2 more CTs a few days later because there was hopes that the interventional radiologist could drain it by going in through the abdomen, but the CT showed that it was in a spot that could not be reached safely that way, my intestines were surrounding it. So...at 2 weeks post-op I had a second surgery to drain it vaginally...nice huh?

I was in terrible pain the entire 6 days that I was in the hospital & also had a bad infection, vaginal cuff celulitis. I was on a PCA dilaudid pump & continous IV antibiotics the entire time.

Not any fun, but I hope that helps!
