White stockings?

I didn't get the white stockings to wear on my legs. I dis have the squeezing ones on my legs the first 24 hours post op in hospital. I just called the floor I was on and asked if I needed them. They said no, that they don't use them anymore. Is this true?? Should I go out and buy some stockings at Walmart?

hiya i had both of them on. i had to put the white stockings on before the surgery and they said when i came home 4 days after my op to leave them on has long has i could. the squeezing ones i had on for 2 days, i didn't know what they where never een or heard of them before.

I had the stockings right before I went into surgery on Wednesday afternoon, had them on until Friday morning when I took my first post-op shower. They're so you don't get blood clots, but that's what those squeezy things are for also. I'd say if you're already getting out of bed, you don't need them. If they were *that* necessary, your hospital would have supplied them.

I just had the squeeze things while I was in the hospital. They put them on before surgery and had to wear them if I was in bed. As long as you get up and move around and rotate your ankles and flex your calves when you are sitting/laying for awhile, you should be fine.

Just had the squeezing bands also. Once I left the hospital I was moving on my own, so really no need for anything else.

Ok thanks! I googled some info and they are for bedridden patients. I'm trying to walk laps around my house every hour or two. Maybe tomorrow head outside.

I had the squeezing things too. But did not have stockings to wear home. I just made sure I moved around every day.
