3 weeks post hysterectomy: Loss of appetite?

Totally not hungry. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post laparoscopic vaginally assisted hysterectomy. I haven't had appetite issues until yesterday.

Is this normal? The only reason I really even eat is so I can take my ibuprofen. My husband (the resident chef) is starting to take it personally that I don't want to eat his yummy food.

6 days post op and the only thing that always sounds good to eat is a Popsicle. I've also eaten a cold orange every day. Everything else either doesn't sound good, or I'm over it after 3 bites.

Are you passing gas and having stools daily because that can sometimes cause a poor appetite. You're doing the right thing by eating before taking motrin. Also remember in order to heal well you need proper nutrition especially protein. Try eating small frequent meals and hopefully your appetite will return and your hubby will be happy. Best of luck with your recovery.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: Loss of appetite?

Yep--passing gas, going to the bathroom. All systems go.

I am thinking about supplementing with Ensure or something for a little while. I know my struggle with my lack of energy can be tied to my lack of appetite as well as recovery from the surgery.

Thanks to everyone for the posts!

I have lost my appetite as well. Are you still taking pain meds beside the ibuprofen? My stomach feels like it's all in knots and upset constantly that I'm only eating once a day. I hope you feel better soon.
